Alexandre Gauthier opens a temporary restaurant in Paris

Alexandre Gauthier opens a temporary restaurant in Paris

Mathilde Bourge | 3/19/24, 5:30 PM

For a few days in April, Alexandre Gauthier will be offering his cuisine at an undisclosed location in Paris's 8th arrondissement. Here's what the chef, named 2016 Chef of the Year, has to offer.

The phoenix rises from the ashes! A few months ago, Alexandre Gauthier and his team at La Grenouillère in La Madelaine-sous-Montreuil were dismayed to discover their restaurant under water. The bad weather and flooding that hit northern France forced the two-starred chef to close the doors of his establishment for an indefinite period, until the situation improved, but above all until some work was carried out. "Following the bad weather, our house is closed for an indefinite period. We plan to reopen our restaurant next spring", the establishment explained on its social networks.

But Alexandre Gauthier is not about to give up! From April 10, 2024, the chef "willtake possession of and transform for a few days an extraordinary place in the 8ᵉ arrondissement of Paris."

Alexandre Gauthier's proposal for Paris

This ephemeral restaurant, which will close its doors on April 14, will welcome guests in a location still kept secret. It will be possible to discover Alexandre Gauthier's cuisine during lunches on April 12 and 13, priced at 320 euros per person; and dinners on April 10, 11, 12 and 13, priced at 520 euros per person. "This price includes a glass of champagne, the menu, the wine and food pairing, water and a hot drink", the booking platform states. Tables can accommodate 2, 3, 4 or 6 guests. The address of the ephemeral restaurant will be emailed directly to those who have reserved a table.

While the cuisine will be created by Alexandre Gauthier and his team at La Grenouillère, the scenography and mise en relief will be handled by stage director Julien Gosselin.

In the meantime, if you live in or are visiting Northern France, you can still discover the chef's cuisine at his other restaurants: Anecdote, Froggy's Tavern, Grand Palace Café and Sur Mer.
