Winemaker
Although the vineyards of Sainte-Foy-la-Grande don't enjoy the renown of their Gironde neighbors, they do have interesting potential, particularly for producing deep-bodied, sappy red wines made mainly from the Merlot grape variety. Château Martet is a good representative of this cru, and its wines are not lacking in ambition. It comprises 23 hectares in a single block overlooking the Dordogne. The estate is home to a venerable Carthusian monastery built in the 13th century.
