Gourmet Restaurant While many bastides (fortified towns) occupy strategic points in the Lot-et-Garonne region where the Hundred Years' War began, there's one in particular, called the Ville Royale, now known as Villeréal, that's best visited with fork in hand: it's here that Anaïs Teynié, Nicolas Vaillant and Julien Auroux have decided to reign by rehabilitating an old institution, the Table de l'Europe. Since 2018, Anaïs has been the chef, Julien the pastry chef and Nicolas the maître de maison, and this trio has been delighting us with interesting dishes such as the perfect egg with leek, truffle cream and ewe's milk cheese, an excellent starter full of blended flavors that retain all their identity, but temperature limited, a fillet of cod with green asparagus, wild garlic coulis, rhubarb, potato mousseline, nicely cooked, on a somewhat chiche portion, the asparagus crunchy to perfection, coulis served at tables, before a good dessert of lemon, flambéed pineapple ganache. The wine list is attractive, and the second toque not far off.
