Tasted blind this year, this cuvée hasn't aged a day. It's as superb as ever. The nose is perfectly open, with notes of honey, ginger, gentian, kumquat and the chalk that is the hallmark of the place. The palate matches it, offering power and roundness, complexity and balance. A must-taste!

The company was founded in Reims in 1760 by François Delamotte. Marie-Louise de Nonancourt revived the brand in 1927, establishing it in the village of Mesnil-sur-Oger, a temple of the Côte des Blancs. Owned by the Laurent-Perrier group, the house has been managed since 1997 by Didier Depond, also head of the Salon house. Michel Fauconnet, Laurent-Perrier's cellar master, is in charge of vinification. The specialty remains Chardonnay from parcels all classified as 100% Grand Cru, around Mesnil-sur-Oger, on the Côte des Blancs, which produces wines renowned for their finesse and freshness. Delamotte is a sought-after brand among gourmets.
